About Rawster Audio

Rawster is the short name for Rawster Audio, an audio software company. We build bespoke audio plugins with artists from real studio workflows. An artist has a way of working that only exists in their sessions, in the chain they always reach for and the moves they make without thinking, and we turn that into a plugin anyone can open. The DSP, the interface and the presets are all built in-house.

Creativity and taste

We don't think a plugin is limited by the math. Most of what's possible in DSP has been possible for a while, so the difference between a tool you keep and one you delete comes down to taste, what it should feel like and what got left out. That isn't something you can engineer your way to. It comes from whoever is in the room, which is why we go find the artist first.

How a collaboration works

The artist is in the process from the first sketch, not brought in at the end to sign off. They decide what the box is for, what's on the front panel, and what it should never do (that last one matters more than people expect). We handle the rest, the engineering, where the DSP runs out, where an interface stops being usable, and how the thing gets built and gets to people.

How we build

Every plugin gets used on real sessions until it holds up, and if it doesn't it gets rebuilt. We care about three things. Stages that are designed to feed each other instead of a rack of strangers, one gesture where other tools give you a menu tree, and a simple view and an advanced view of the same engine so it meets you where you are. We won't claim the algorithms defy physics. They're good.
